Breath of Faith The Living Sculpture of Pedro de Mena

This display at the Art Gallery of New South Wales explores the artistic craftsmanship of Spanish Baroque sculptor Pedro de Mena. Centred on his polychrome wood statue of Saint Francis of Assisi, the exhibition uses technical imaging such as X-rays and CT scans to reveal the internal engineering behind his realistic figures. Contemporary engravings of sacred subjects provide context for these devotional works.
