We index special exhibitions and illustrate them with openly licensed images — museum open-access programmes, Creative Commons files, and works in the public domain. Every image is credited to its source and its licence, and every entry below links back to the original file.
If you hold rights in something here and want a correction or a removal, write to hello@museumcompass.com. We would rather fix a credit than keep an image.
Affiliate links
Some booking and shop links here earn us a commission when you buy through them. It costs you nothing extra, and it pays for the indexing work behind the catalog.
It buys nothing else. A commission never decides which exhibitions we list, which venues we cover, or what we say about them — a regional museum and a national one are weighted identically. Wherever a commissioned booking link appears, the museum’s own ticket page is shown alongside it, and the note above the button says plainly that it is commissioned.
