A career-spanning retrospective of the Colombian artist Olga de Amaral (b. 1932), known internationally for textile works that blur the boundaries between weaving, sculpture and painting. With 130 textiles and works on paper made over 65 years, it is the most comprehensive look to date at her foundational contributions to the fiber arts movement and to design. The exhibition traces how her experiments with dimensionality and scale grew out of her training in architectural drafting, presents materials from her Telas Amaral design studio for the first time, and explores her long engagement with global textile and craft traditions through objects from her own collection. Co-organized with Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum, where it travels in April 2027.
