Van Gogh’s Sunflowers: A Symphony in Blue and Yellow was on view at Philadelphia Museum of Art, Philadelphia, United States, from June 6, 2026 to October 11, 2026.
In August 1888 Van Gogh began painting sunflowers in earthenware pots against yellow and blue grounds, first intended to decorate Paul Gauguin's bedroom in the four-room house he rented in Arles. This focused display brings together two of them, the National Gallery, London's canvas of August 1888 and the Philadelphia Art Museum's own of January 1889, and looks at how the artist used color and brushwork for different expressive effects. In Colket Gallery 251.
