Caravaggio's Models: Friends, Lovers, Rivals

This exhibition examines Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio by focusing on the real people who posed for his paintings, including his companions, partners, and contemporary artists. Displaying roughly 25 works at the Detroit Institute of Arts, the presentation explores the personal backgrounds of these individuals, tracing how their likenesses shaped the painter's dramatic narrative canvases and self-portraits.
