A free focus show that brings together, for the first time, the few surviving works in precious metal by Juste-Aurèle Meissonnier (1695–1750), the Turin-born goldsmith and designer who pioneered the Rococo style in Paris. At its center is the CMA's celebrated silver tureen made for the 2nd Duke of Kingston-upon-Hull, recently cleaned, analyzed and digitized in 3-D, shown with a newly acquired gold and lapis lazuli snuffbox made for Maria Anna of Neuburg, queen of Spain, which has never been exhibited before. Loans from the Louvre, the Musée des Arts Décoratifs, the Bibliothèque nationale de France and the Smart Museum of Art include an ewer that belonged to Marie Antoinette and a candelabrum made for the Duke of Kingston. In the Julia and Larry Pollock Focus Gallery.
