The Peabody Essex Museum presents around 100 artifacts from the Galloway Hoard, a major archaeological discovery buried around 900 CE. Featuring precious metals, textiles, and items with early English runic inscriptions, the assembly highlights wide-ranging trade routes and shared heritage. The display invites viewers to look beyond traditional Viking cliches to understand the intricate relationships between Scandinavian arrivals and local communities.
