The Art of Kandy: Sri Lanka’s Last Kingdom

This exhibition displays portable artworks created in Kandy, Sri Lanka's final independent royal realm before British rule. Drawn entirely from the Norton Simon Museum's collection, the featured items include silver manuscript covers, bronze figures, carved ivory objects, and gem-set swords. The selection illustrates how local craftsmen combined regional traditions with foreign artistic influences to serve royal patrons and Buddhist worshippers.
