Nick Cave: Mammoth is on view at Smithsonian American Art Museum, Washington, D.C., United States, until January 3, 2027.

Artist Nick Cave transforms the galleries of the Smithsonian American Art Museum into an immersive environment featuring video projections, crafted hides, and fake bones. The exhibition incorporates hundreds of altered everyday items alongside references to Cave's ancestral roots in rural Missouri. Through these transformed materials, the work explores human identity, personal lineage, and our evolving relationship with the surrounding natural environment.
