Tewa Nangeh/Tewa Country

The Georgia O'Keeffe Museum pairs the artist's paintings and personal belongings with new creations by contemporary Tewa artists. Representing six Northern New Mexico Pueblos, the contributors re-examine regional history, place, and identity. The exhibition addresses the continuous Native presence on ancestral lands while challenging popular narratives surrounding the painter's connection to the area.
