Ibrahim Mahama Zilijafa

In his first major Dutch museum solo show, Ibrahim Mahama examines the physical and material legacies of colonialism and industrial development in Ghana. The presentation at the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam centers on a massive locomotive balanced atop hundreds of headpans, referencing the historical railway system constructed during British rule. Accompanying this site-specific arrangement are complementary photographs, drawings, and video works that explore themes of labor and collective history.
