Major, the East Kimberley Bushranger

This exhibition displays paintings by Gija artists Freddie Timms and Timmy Timms at the Art Gallery of New South Wales. The featured works examine frontier violence and Aboriginal resistance in the East Kimberley region. Freddie Timms reimagines the Wagiman bushranger Major using motifs inspired by Sidney Nolan, while Timmy Timms uses broad fields of colour to depict regional massacres tied to his family history.
