Willem de Kooning at work

This major retrospective at the Rijksmuseum traces Willem de Kooning’s creative process over six decades. Featuring more than 120 works, the exhibition highlights the central role of drawing in his artistic development, from early student sketches to rapid charcoal studies. Celebrated paintings and sculptures, including Pink Angels and Excavation, alongside key works in the Gallery of Honour, demonstrate how his exploration on paper informed his art.
