A historic loan from France
For the first time in nearly 1,000 years, the 70-metre medieval embroidery is loaned to the British Museum following a historic agreement with France. The tapestry depicts the events surrounding the Norman Conquest and the Battle of Hastings in 1066, offering insights into 11th-century life through its depictions of warfare, ships, clothing, food and furnishings.
